The only Blinkist Review you need to know

I used to be a passionate advocate for Blinkist.

Since I began using the app in 2020, I was instantly captivated and eager to share my enthusiasm with everyone around me.

I even wrote several blog posts about it.

However, over time, I stopped using the app altogether.

Let's read my honest Blinkist review.

Here’s why:

Why I Initially Enjoyed Blinkist:

  • Book Selection:

Blinkist helped me identify books worth reading.

While it never intended to replace full-length books, it was useful for providing summaries and initial impressions.

I appreciated their transparency in this regard.

  • Daily Insights:

The app offered daily insights and new ideas, which I found stimulating and informative.

  • Wide Range of Popular Titles:

Their collection of popular non-fiction books was extensive and covered many bestsellers.

Why I Eventually Stopped Using It:

  • Superficial Content:

Initially, Blinkist was helpful, especially for those new to personal development.

However, I soon found that the summaries only skimmed the surface of the material. I used to believe that more knowledge was always better, but I’ve since realized that superficial summaries don’t contribute much to deep understanding.

  • After a few years, I couldn’t recall anything significant that I had learned from the app.

  • Inconsistent Quality:

Over time, I noticed that the quality of summaries varied greatly. Some felt mechanical and poorly written, making them difficult to engage with.

  • Focus on Popular Titles:

Blinkist’s emphasis seemed primarily on new and popular books.

As I began searching for less mainstream works, I found that their selection was limited.

  • Lack of Innovation:

Despite my efforts to provide feedback and engage with the Blinkist team, including joining their partner program and connecting with staff members, I observed little to no significant innovation or response.

This stagnation contributed to my decision to stop using the app.

I adhere to a principle of only recommending tools and services that I actively use.

This is why you’ll find few app and service links on my site.

Unlike some bloggers who may promote anything for profit, I prefer to be genuine in my endorsements.

It’s disappointing because Blinkist has a solid platform and a dedicated audience.

Yet, its tendency to remain on the surface level of content no longer aligns with my needs or expectations.
